FEBRUARY 2010

WOW ! January seems to have blown by. January 2010 in Penticton was one of the warmest on record. No snow and above freezing every day. Skaha Meadows, the Executive Golf Course by the Airport has been open since mid January. The Penticton Golf and Country Club will officially open this Saturday February 6, 2010. The course looks great. It has wintered well.

TIRED OF WINTER ?

Come to Penticton ! Play golf, bike, hike, run, walk...... Get outside and enjoy the mild weather. If you are so inclined, Apex Mountain has lots of snow for downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing or snow mobiling. Why not ski in the morning ..............

RECESSION ?....WHAT RECESSION ?

It seems to have ended. There was definitely positive growth in the economy in every month in the last quarter of 2009. That positive energy has certainly carried over into 2010. The Okanagan fared much better than the rest of Canada and a lot better than many other parts o the world.

AMENITY BUILDING

We are officially underway. All approvals and permits are in place and construction has begun. We will be finished this summer. This Amenity Building will be a great asset to everyone at the Verana Okanagan and will certainly add value to each and every home. We can't wait to see the final result !

PRICE INCREASE

As previously mentioned, we have now raised our prices in 2010. We have raised the price on each suite by approximately 5%. This is only the initial price increase - they will be raised again when it is deemed necessary. The prices are still below cost. For those people who have shown recent interest, we will HOLD the old price quoted. We have also learned that interest rates are due to rise soon. The time to buy is NOW !

H.S.T. LOOMS

As of July 1, 2010, HST may be coming into effect. Any unit sold after that date will be subject to HST (12% tax) and not just GST (5% tax) as it is now. In other words.....a $300,000 purchase may be subject to an HST of $36,000 instead of a GST of $15,000. When you consider the coming increase in prices and the coming increase in taxes, THE BEST TIME TO BUY IS NOW.
